Cleaning and home care

The high quality standards and efficient technology of propylene glycol, allow it to be present in the production of products for daily use such as those belonging to the cosmetic industry; Among the possible uses in this industry we find:

  • Use in creams (it has a high moisturizing capacity).
  • Provide consistency in lipsticks or lipsticks.
  • Preserve the components in body lotions.
  • Provide consistency and lather to hair products such as shampoos or bath gel.

Product Description: It is a clear hygroscopic liquid, moderately viscous at room temperature. It is a straight-chain aliphatic compound terminated at both ends by a hydroxyl group.

Main Uses: Antifreeze/coolant for the automotive industry. The hygroscopicity of the product makes it useful as an adhesive conditioner, in the synthetic rubber industry, printing inks, for the production of alkyd resins and unsaturated polyester resins.

Product Description: Diethylene glycol (DEG) is a colorless liquid with low volatility, low viscosity and hygroscopic properties. It is miscible in water, alcohol, ether, acetone and ethylene glycol (MEG).

Main Uses: Diethylene glycol is used in a variety of applications, including:

  • Chemical intermediate: Used in the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resin, plasticizers for lacquers, enamels and nitrocellulosic adhesives, polyester polyols for urethane foam, emulsifiers and lubricants. It is also used in the production of morpholine.
  • Hygroscopicity: It is used for dehydration of gases and as a plasticizer in paper, composite cork, glues, adhesives, binding and varnishes.
  • Lubricant: Used as a glass polishing aid, fiber finishing component and in cement grinding aids.
  • Solvent coupler: It is used in separations of aromatic and paraffinic hydrocarbons, as well as in the manufacture of printing inks, pigments and dyes.
  • Solvent: Used in separations of aromatic and paraffinic hydrocarbons, as well as in the production of printing inks, pigments and dyes.
  • Low volatility: Acts as a binder for molding in foundry sand.

It is a polyester with a wide range of use within the industry, its uses are varied and depending on the client’s needs, a polyethylene glycol with a lower or higher molecular weight may be more useful. It should be noted that low molecular weight PEGs have different functions than high molecular weight ones.

For PEG 200 its main uses are:

  • Plasticizers in adhesives.
  • Increased lubricity.
  • Add wetting
  • Maintain adhesion strength when wet.
  • Antistatic agent
  • Moisturizer.
  • Chemical intermediates.
  • Inks.
  • Ink carrier.
