According to the World Health Organization (WHO), exhaust gases from combustion vehicles are known to contain carcinogenic pollutant particles. And, although technology has advanced a lot, many raw materials whose origin are fossil fuels are still used.
Specifically, we refer to nitrogen oxides or NOx, which are highly harmful to the environment and represent a serious risk to health. From an environmental point of view, NOx is one of the contributors to acid rain, the greenhouse effect, the depletion of the ozone layer and the formation of smog.
To deal with this pollution and thanks to advances in technology, a product has been developed that encourages the proper use and maintenance of automobiles. For this reason, in this blog we tell you more about AdBlue.
AdBlue, a registered trademark of aqueous urea solution, was created to reduce NOx emissions in vehicles equipped with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology. Basically, it converts the harmful NOx from the exhaust of a diesel vehicle into harmless nitrogen and vapour, significantly reducing nitrogen oxide emissions and therefore the pollution it generates.
This type of automotive urea guarantees the proper functioning of the system and at the same time is a friendlier alternative for the environment, which is of great value for the automotive sector and of course for the planet.
To explain a little better what AdBlue is, we tell you that it is a highly purified colorless liquid. It contains demineralized water and urea (32.5%) and, in addition, its main active component is ammonia.
Among its advantages we can mention:
AdBlue is injected into the catalyst of the SCR system, where it triggers a chemical reaction with ammonia.
This chemical reaction converts highly toxic nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen (N2) and water vapor (H2O). These last two are natural gases that are harmless to the environment. In other words, the AdBlue system is urea dissolved in water.
If your car or truck has a diesel engine and is equipped with an SCR catalyst, it almost certainly uses AdBlue or a similar fluid.
In general, vehicles have AdBlue tanks in the trunks or next to the mouth of the tank and have a capacity that, depending on the model, can vary between 10 and 32 litres.
At Chem Fluid we highly recommend its use, not only because of the benefits it brings to the operation of your vehicle, but also because it is a way to reduce pollution on our planet. If you want more information about this product, contact us.
